30 FREE Self-Care Routines to Maximize Your Life

How you age is a reflection of how you take/took care of yourself. Self-care is the act of taking care of oneself physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, socially and mentally. It is essential for maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. 

Here are 30 life changing practices I use to better my lifestyle daily that are budget friendly. Try one per day until it becomes embedded in your life without question nor doubt. 

  1. Get enough sleep; Create a start and end time; Set your reminder alarms
  2. Take breaks throughout your day; You are NOT a robot; Stop and rest 
  3. Eat a healthy and balanced diet at least 80% of the time
  4. Stay hydrated with water, homemade all natural juices and smoothies 
  5. Connect with your loved ones with a simple text, or call; Don't overthink it
  6. Practice gratitude; Don't take anything for granted; You are already blessed
  7. Spend time outside; You need fresh air, sunshine, nature, and peace
  8. Read a book one page at a time; Don't be pressured to finish in a week
  9. Take your time with a warm bubble bath, soak or shower, no rushing, and include aroma therapy with an essential oil diffuser, incense, or candle
  10. Listen to music that is healing to the soul
  11. Meditate; Stillness is the new success
  12. Practice yoga to release the trapped trauma and tension; Find videos on YouTube
  13. Go for a walk, run, or a workout outdoors
  14. Try a new hobby that challenges you and do not give up ; Find videos on YouTube
  15. Get a massage from a trusted person or self-massage
  16. Write in a journal and use a pen that writes smoothly to encourage you
  17. Practice deep breathing exercises; Inhale = Nose x Exhale = Mouth
  18. Declutter your living space; Cluttered space is a cluttered mind
  19. Take a nap during the day, even if its 15-30 minutes
  20. Drink dried herbal loose tea NOT the tea bags
  21. Treat yourself to something you enjoy; Be happy on this journey 
  22. Practice positive self-talk no matter what the situation is; Pray & have faith
  23. Learn a new skill, gain unfamiliar knowledge, and do NOT give up
  24. Watch a healthy informative movie or TV show; Do NOT watch the news
  25. Take a digital detox; Get off social media/off the grid and enjoy your life

  27. Spend time with a pet ; We all need love, affection and companionship
  28. Take a mental health day where you do NOTHING 
  29. Practice mindfulness by reciting affirmations out loud 
  30. Set boundaries and say no; Take control of your life; Don't feel guilty
